It's over.
In light of Lisa’s impending move to Paris for the remainder of the calendar year, food.clothing.shelter is now defunct. Thanks for your support during the first 8 months when we successfully kicked some seriously bad habits. Back to shopping freedom, tempered by newfound restraint. Thanks. —The Mgmt.

God bless my mother...
who is taking me for a mani-pedi today. I think the hardest thing about all of this has not been the no-shopping (although I occasionally feel I might crack) but it has been the no “spa treatment” rule. I do not consider myself a lady that “spas”. I maybe get one facial and one massage a year. BUT, what I do treat myself to is a mani-pedi every other week and this once a...

Don’t go on gilt! It’ll just make you feel bad about yourself. Trust me. I had to spend last weekend at Barney’s with my sister. OMG. -vkc

Gilt-Free
Whoa, is it possible I have not gone to gilt.com since December 2011? Not so much as a peek! If it’s been nothing but non-stop Marni sales at 85% off, please nobody tell me. -Lisa
Life Diet
I have found that my craving for morsels is declining along with my craving for clothes. Less excess in general. It’s a good thing, I think. -Lisa
I actually dreamt about shopping last night…that was a first. -mnmk
Something's in the Water in S.F. →
Click on this post title. It’s an article about another group of S.F. folks who decided to non-consume for a year. Slightly different approach (and less pained by lack of glamour), but same bottom line: it is more fun to ask your friends to borrow stuff than to buy new stuff yourself. Non-consuming is community-building. Case in point: last night I asked both of my co-bloggers if they...

@Denver YSL retrospective
I, for one, am all for it. Free place to stay, too, since that is home to the parentals. Can Lisa fit it into her busy traveling schedule?
At the very least, we’re going to the Gaultier exhibit, non?

Does Rent the Runway (http://www.renttherunway.com/) count? It is not spending money on new items that will be in your house yet is allowing for the purchase satisfaction…sort of…thoughts? -mnmk

Addicted to Deals.
There once was a little brown haired girl who refused to wear pink - much to her mother’s discontent…(mom was the cheerleading captain and homecoming queen). What the little girl did learn from mom was the love of shopping and not just the love of shopping, but HOW to shop. The hunt for the bargain, the most amazing feeling of getting something HALF OFF. It feels like that movie...
Question
What about items that support an experiential purchase? Say, equestrian boots for actually riding horses?
